Literature Grad was borne out of the idea to create a space to discuss literary texts and themes post-university.
Since then, Literature Grad has become a community of readers from around the world, coming together to discuss our love of reading and the positive ways that texts have shaped our lives.
How it all began…
Back in 2019, when ‘bookstagram’ wasn’t really a thing, I started an account to record my current reads and research interest when embarking on an MA at the University of Sheffield. In the 4 year, pandemic-stricken slog that was earning a Masters’ degree, the Literature Grad instagram gathered dust while life got in the way. But that all changed in 2024.
How it’s going:
I decided to give the whole ‘book influencer’ thing a proper go, and from there we have gained a seriously special corner of the internet. Full of dreamers, thinkers, researchers and academics, Literature Grad has become a space where like-minded readers can discuss their latest reads and book-ish habits (we see you with an endless TBR, and we don’t judge).
What does the future look like?

Meet Our Guest Writers
Emma Butler, PhD Researcher
English Literature, Edge Hill University
Emma is a PhD researcher in English Literature. Her thesis focuses on the representation of the seaside as a liminal space in the nineteenth-century literary imagination with the intersection of health and leisure. She is an endometriosis patient and a chronic pain and menstrual health advocate. Emma shares her experiences navigating chronic illness & pain alongside academia on her Instagram, @19thcenturyem. In her spare time she is a self-proclaimed nerd – she loves Star Wars, reading (especially historical fiction, romance, and mythology retellings), and playing cozy video games!
